Pepitas or Peppitas (depending on how you prefer to spell it!) are the inner part of the hulled pumpkin seed. Originating in Central America, they can be enjoyed on their own as a delicious snack or added to salads, smoothies or included in a breakfast topper mix. You could even use them to make your own trail mix with some dried fruit and nuts. They add a delicious crunch to anything you add them to.
Pepitas are super-nutritious with a lovely nutty taste and texture and are great for adding a splash of green to anything. Pepitas, like most nuts and seeds, are high in healthy polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fats and they are a great source of protein, fibre, iron, zinc and magnesium. They can help keep your metabolism running efficiently and maintain a healthy hormone balance.
