Hiding Extra Greens in Food (shhh)!

Hiding Extra Greens in Food (shhh)!

If you have a child (or perhaps partner) that is not keen on eating greens (& also won’t drink them), you can easily sneak some extras into their food! Couple of ideas below, but it’ll work with most things that have enough colour & flavour to overpower the green & grassiness! You won’t get away with it in a creamy alfredo or vanilla ice cream, but use your imagination, & do some small scale tests before any large batches! Keep a tub of greens near your spices to remind you!

The main benefits of the Greens + Aloe = supporting your gut lining & gut microbiome (thus immune & inflammatory balance), liver & lymphatic cleansing & extra phytonutrients = great way to help fussy eaters if they’re missing out on greens through a limited diet.

Guacamole:

Add approx ¼ teaspoon Greens+Aloe per ½ cup of guacamole. The lemon / salt & pepper & garlic are perfect to hide the greens flavour, & your guac will even look nice & vibrant!

Green Bean Dip:

Ingredients
1 tin of (well-drained) cannellini, faba beans or chickpeas
½ cup of raw cashews, hempseeds or pine nuts
½ tsp Greens + Aloe
1 TBsp olive oil
1 TBsp lemon juice (or ½ TBsp apple cider vinegar)
Salt & pepper to taste
Optional: herbs or spices for extra flavour (oregano, basil, paprika etc)

Greens Boosted Salad Dressing:

Ingredients:
25mL Apple cider vinegar (ACV)
1 flat tsp mustard
2 tsp maple syrup or honey
½ tsp Greens + Aloe
Optional - 1 TBsp olive oil
Optional - 2 tsp finely chopped basil or thyme

Method:
Whisk or shake all ingredients together in a small jar. Use to dress salads, store in the fridge up to 5 days.

Mexican mince / beans:

Add approx ¼ teaspoon Greens + Aloe per ½ cup of mince just before you serve up (mix through really well first, & be sure to test it yourself in a small scale qty prior to serving).

Note: This would also work with spaghetti bolognaise, savoury or curry mince etc. Basically you can add into anything with a reasonably strong flavour, that the green colour won’t make an obvious change to. If in doubt, test with small test batches!
